AC ENDOWMENT OPPORTUNITIES
Endowment Opportunities
In 1928 in an address to the college trustees, College President Dr. Annie Dove Denmark proposed and fervently urged the need for endowment. It is still one of the college’s greatest needs.
Why is it so important? A healthy endowment generates income each year that can be used to fund scholarships and leave the doors of a Christian education open to all students regardless of their financial situation. Among other things, it also provides funds for faculty development, new and innovative technologies used in the classroom, and program support. A robust endowment is essential in guaranteeing the viability of Anderson College for years to come.
How you can help
You can support Anderson College and its students by establishing an endowment for scholarships, professorships, academic and curricular programs, or campus improvements. Where annual gifs help meet the needs of the current year, endowments benefit the college forever. Since only a portion of the annual earnings from an endowment is spendable, the corpus of the fund remains intact generating income for the endowment's purposes year after year. Additionally, a portion of annual earnings above the spending limit are reinvested back into the fund, allowing the endowment to experience internal growth over time
As with all gifts to Anderson College an endowment can be established through cash donations, gifts of stock or through a planned gift to the college.
Scholarship Endowments
Scholarships often determine whether a young person will be able to attend Anderson College. Scholarships keep the door of a Christian higher education at Anderson College open for everyone. Nearly 90 percent of Anderson College students receive some form of scholarship assistance.
Endowment for Faculty Positions
To maintain high academic standards at Anderson College, to recruit and retain highly qualified Christian faculty members, and to support faculty development programs, a growing endowment for faculty positions is needed. Endowments can support teaching chairs, professorships, guest lecturers, lecture series, prize or honor funds and development programs.
Building and Grounds Endowments:
To maintain our beautiful historic campus and to help provide for the upkeep and maintenance of new facilities and equipment. Funds can be restricted to a specific building or to property and grounds or to a general fund for this purpose.
Program Endowments
From the fine arts to campus ministries, community service and in the classroom, program endowments help support and expand our academic and student development programs that enrich the lives of the students we serve.
