ACCEL Teacher Education

The Division is pleased to offer an accelerated degree as in Early Childhood Education within the evening division (ACCEL). An option is available for students to graduate without certification or continue in order to meet requirements for teacher certification.

Early Childhood Education (non-teacher certification)
Because the ACCEL program is designed to allow students to complete degree programs at an accelerated pace, this program enables individuals who work full-time or part-time to take classes at more convenient times for working professionals. The flexibility of the Early Childhood Education program allows individuals to complete a college degree and still work full-time or to continue and obtain teacher certification. The benefit of the non-certification degree program is to provide required teacher education credits and more for paraprofessionals (teacher’s aides) employed in the public schools.
In order to continue on to obtain teacher certification, students must meet the requirements necessary to be admitted into the teacher education program’s professional sequence. For more information on the requirements, visit the Division’s website (www.ac.edu/education) or call Brenda Gray at 864-231-2143.
This program is open to former Anderson College students, transfer students, and first-time college students.Former students and transfer students must submit transcripts of all previous college work attempted.Applicants who have no prior college experience should provide proof of high school graduation. First-time students will be asked to demonstrate acceptable skills in English on a college entrance exam.
ACCEL classes are held on Monday and Thursday evenings for approximately eight weeks.Classes meet at either 5:30 PM or 7:50 PM. Students may register for two classes per term (full-time student) or one class per term (part-time student). There are five terms each year.A full-time student may earn up to 30 semester hours in a year.To graduate, students must have earned a minimum of 120 semester hours.
