The Teacher Education Program is built on the belief that as a builder of values, teacher candidates need to have an ethical foundation upon which to build their careers. To provide guidance in this process, the Teacher Education Program follows this code:
I believe as a teacher candidate that I am a builder of community, values, and knowledge. I recognize that within each concept comes certain responsibilities, and 1 hereby affirm my dedication to the profession of education. With this affirmation, I embrace my obligations as a builder of
COMMUNITY
• I believe in the worth of all school personnel involved in the education of children and youth and pledge to foster a collaborative relationship with each in order to enhance the education environment
• I believe schools are institutions that foster caring, hope, and comfort in an inclusive environment
• I believe it is my responsibility to link the education of children and youth with support from outside agencies.
VALUES
• I believe teachers must adhere to the principles of Christian ethics and virtues.
• I promise to model these qualities in my role as a teacher candidate and future educator.
• I believe as an educator that I should exempl~5.’ honesty and integrity in the course of professional practice.
KNOWLEDGE
• I believe it is my responsibility to increase the performance of students through the disciplined pursuit of knowledge..
• I believe it is my responsibility to further my pursuit of knowledge in order to better understand my content
• I will be persistent in my commitment to foster life-long learning for all students.
I pledge to be steadfast in these commitments even when weary and tempted to abdicate such
Responsibility or to blame failure on obstacles that the task difficult.
