Instructional Services Librarian

Anderson University (SC) invites applications for the position of Instructional Services Librarian available November 1, 2007.  Anderson University is a comprehensive, liberal arts institution affiliated with the South Carolina Baptist Convention.  Candidates with a strong Christian value system and lifestyle are encouraged to apply. 

The Thrift Library of Anderson University has three faculty-rank librarians and three staff members. The 53,000 sq. ft. Thrift Library building was completed in January of 2007, and contains 115,000 volumes with access to 87 databases.   Additional information can be found at:  http://www.ac.edu/library/index.html

The successful candidate will oversee bibliographic and information literacy instruction, provide reference service, including evening and weekend rotation, assist in collection development, and serve as liaison to various academic departments.
Specific duties include:

  • Develop and present classroom library orientations.
  • Develop online library instruction activities.
  • Reference Desk Hours, including occasional nights and weekends.
  • Assist in circulation and reserves.
  • Assist in development of library goals/objectives/policies.
  • Assist in collection development, including both acquisitions and weeding.
  • Train library staff in bibliographic instruction.
  • Supervise student workers as needed.

Candidates should possess a minimum of an ALA-accredited Master's of Library Science. Knowledge of instructional technology, traditional and online reference services, and circulation and reserve required. The successful candidate must possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
