Student Employment Opportunities

Federal Work Study (FWS) is a federally funded program administered by Anderson University that enables students to earn money while attending school. Anderson University Work Grant is institutional money awarded to students that may or may not be eligible for FWS. Federal Work Study and Anderson University Work Grant are awarded as part of your financial aid package and give you the opportunity to earn the amount of your Federal Work Study award. To remain eligible for FWS, you must maintain a grade point average of 2.0. To remain eligible for ACWG, you must maintain a 2.5 GPA.

Every student is required to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) each year in order to be awarded financial aid. Eligibility for work-study is determined by your financial need, which is based on the FAFSA.

Many jobs on and off campus will be available to students in the fall. Once you arrive on campus, come by the Financial Aid Planning Office. We will keep an updated listing of jobs posted for your convenience. We have also Included on this web page is a listing of campus contacts for possible jobs. It is your responsibility to review job openings and contact the supervisor. Before you begin work, you must have all paperwork completed in the Financial Aid Planning Office.

Students at Anderson University have a variety of positions open to them. Those on campus include: library, computer labs, tutor labs, housing, bookstore, ministries, intramurals, post office and admissions. Students may also work as departmental assistants.

Off campus positions are also available. Positions are available to students willing to work for after-school programs for the Anderson YMCA, United Way Literacy Association, Legacy Mentoring, and America Reads. America Reads is a mentoring program through which University students tutor elementary age children after school.

Once you are hired, the supervisor will give you all the necessary forms to complete for a FWS or ACWG position.

You may work up to 20 hours per week during the school year, as long as you have remaining FWS or ACWG award. Most students average between 10 and 15 hours per week with a ten-hour per week limit for freshmen. It is your responsibility to budget your hours for the whole semester so you do not run out of eligibility.

You will need to discuss your individual pay with your supervisor. However, most jobs on campus begin pay at minimum wage with the possibility of a raise at the end of each semester. To receive your paycheck, you will fill out a Monthly Student Payroll Record provided by your employer at the end of every month. Both the student and supervisor portions must be completed before turning it into the Financial Aid Planning Office. You will be paid on the 10th of each month. You will not receive a paycheck unless the appropriate paper work has been completed before turning in a timecard.
