Jason Dowiak - Head Coach

Dowiak was named head women's soccer coach in August, 2007.

In his first season, he led the Lady Trojans to a record of 7-9-2 overall and 4-6-1 in Conference Carolinas. The seven overall victories was the most by an AU women's team in three seasons and the four league victories was a single-season record for an AU women's team. Four of Anderson's nine losses were by one goal.

Dowiak, a native of Moorestown, N.J., was affiliated with the Ralph Lundy Soccer Academy before coming to Anderson.

“I believe Anderson University has a number of positives,” Dowiak said. “Anderson has an excellent academic foundation, a strong religious belief system, a staff and faculty concerned with preparing the student body for life after Anderson, and beautiful campus, and a great location.

Dowiak played soccer at the College of Charleston for Lundy and earned a B.A. degree in communication in 2003. He earned a starting position as a freshman and was the Cougars’ captain as a senior.

“Coach Lundy taught me the importance of being organized both on and off the field and impressed on me the significance of being a positive example in everything I do,” Dowiak said. “Thanks to Coach Lundy and my parents, I can say with confidence that I have been prepared for this amazing opportunity at Anderson.”

Dowiak’s coaching career started as an assistant coach at St. Joseph’s College in Rensselaer, Ind. After one year as an assistant, he was named interim head coach at St. Joseph’s for both the men’s and women’s programs.

After leaving St. Joseph’s at the end of the ’05 season, Dowiak accepted a position as voluntary assistant at the College of Charleston. In August ’06, Dowiak was named assistant women’s coach at Lander University.

“I look forward to molding the returning players into a core who truly believe in our team system, and I want to bring in players who will fit the system and challenge every team member so our quality of play will rise continuously," Dowiak said.

Steve Henderson - Assistant Coach

AU alumnus Steve Henderson was assistant coach in August, 2008.

Henderson, a four-year player for the AU men’s program, joins the women’s staff as the assistant and will help Dowiak with day-to-day operations, practices, recruiting and workouts.

“Steve has great ideas about the game and expresses his coaching points with confidence and clarity,” Dowiak said. “His defensive understanding has already helped to organize our backs and he is developing a strong relationship with all of the players. He has earned the team’s respect and is the perfect compliment to my coaching style.”

Henderson has experience in both coaching and conditioning, as he has served as a coach and trainer in the Clemson Anderson Soccer Alliance soccer club as well as a staff coach at Ralph Lundy Soccer Academy.

Henderson graduated from AU in 2008 with a degree in English Literature.
