Joey Eskridge - Head Coach

Joey Eskridge was the Director of Tennis at The Players Club of Charleston located in Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina. The Players Club is Charleston’s only full service tennis academy with on site schooling and elite tennis training program.



Joey has been a co founder of the following; The Charleston Professional Tennis League, The MUSC Ace Breast Cancer Tournament, and The Low Country Tennis Professionals Association. Joey also serves on many committees of the SCTA and is one of the Vice Presidents of the South Carolina Tennis Professionals Association.



As a coach Joey has had the honor of being the head coach for the Junior Southern Cup team for the last two years and has helped coach it for the last four years. He has also served as one of the Head coaches for player development for the last five years. This past year Joey was an on court coach at the Family Circle Cup for Alexandra Stevenson and had the pleasure of conducting training sessions for her for two weeks leading up to the tournament and four weeks after the tournament. Joey has served as hitting partner for the Family Circle Cup every year that it has been in Charleston.



Joey has proven himself as a leader in this industry over the last twelve years by receiving his National Testers certification through the Professional Tennis Registry. Joey has conducted works shops for the Professional Tennis Registry certifying hundreds of teaching professionals throughout the southern region of the country. Joey has been named Head/ Penn Pro of The Year in 2002 and PTR member of the year in 2004.



As a player Joey played college tennis at Winthrop University where he was a walk on and also served as an assistant coach for one year under Head Coach Cid Carvalho. Joey has won two national championships at the USTA 5.5 level where he served as captain and player. With those teams Joey won three state championships and three southern championships.



So as you can see tennis is not only his job day to day but also his passion. Joey can be found at most major junior tournaments in the state carting kids to and from matches as well as allowing kids from other programs to join in on group warm ups prior to these events. In conclusion, Joey has a great support system at home from his immediate family and tries to make everyone that shares his passion for tennis part of the family.
