02/05/2010 - Softball Team Signs Eight ANDERSON, S.C. -- Eight high school standouts have signed national letters of intent to play softball at Anderson University next season as announced by head coach Tommy Hewitt.
The versatile AU class of 2014 will make their debut on the diamond in the spring of 2011.
Charlotte Sieber (Dacula High School, Dacula, Ga.), Laura Jansky (Kennesaw Mountain High School, Kennesaw, Ga.), Danielle Swygert (Arlington Christian School, Fairburn, Ga.), Stephanie Hanvey (Crescent High School, Iva, S.C.), Kelsey Davis (Crescent High School, Iva, Ga.), Abby Child (LaGrange Academy, LaGrange, Ga.), Jennifer “Jaytee” Turner (Daphne High School, Daphne, Ala.) and Lacey Alexander (West Oak High School, Westminster, S.C.), will add depth and talent to coach Hewitt’s squad and could all challenge for starting positions.
"This is the largest recruiting class we’ve had,” Anderson head coach Tommy Hewitt said. “And it has tremendous talent. All these girls have experience playing at a high level, both in high school and with premier summer travel teams. Five of these players have won high school state championships and others have either won multiple state championships or have competed for state championships. I hope they are looking as forward to getting here as we are to having them here at Anderson."
